Once a month we have the pleasure of travelling to different destinations within our Africa, experiencing its people, staying in some beautiful luxury lodges, and then reporting back to you on our findings. Here is our latest update:

Every now and again, Claire comes up with Mission Impossible for me. “Oh come on Colin, you can fit this site visit in after your conference in the Pilanesberg, you have a whole twelve hours in Tshwane (new name for Pretoria, our governmental capital of South Africa 60 Kms north of Egoli. Yes, you guessed it, new name meaning “streets of gold” for Johannesburg) with nothing to do”. Myself and Caroline had a trip booked to Halong Bay for two days and
one night on a boat. The previous night we went to call for David and
Teri in their hotel. David wanted to watch the Rangers vs Dundee game
on TV so we polled up with a large bottle of vodka which we bought for
the boat and a small bottle of vodka that we could drink before we went
out.

, we decided to postpone it for
twenty four hours and book back into the Blue Star Hotel for some rest.

Dennis had served his apprenticeship there, fresh out of school, had been a loyal and hardworking employee and was extremely well thought of by his colleagues but the business had taken a down-turn and there was no alternative but to make cuts. Dennis understands all of this, but the facts remain; at the age of just 55, he feels cast aside, unwanted, washed-up and useless.
