Successfully growing roses has much to do with preparing the soil properly, and maintaining the plants correctly. It all starts though with clearly understanding the roses’ design function in the garden composition.
Spring is the season when the splendor of rose bushes is at its height. Despite their drop in popularity in recent years, mainly due to difficulties in care and maintenance, the sight of a large group of roses in full bloom, is unquestionably one of the highlights of the gardening year. While success depends on adopting correct horticultural practices, it actually starts or ends with a clear understanding of the design role to be played by the roses.

Cheap is dear is a well-known and well-worn expression. Nowhere is it more relevant than in plant nurseries and garden centers.
With the rising cost of plants today, many home gardeners are understandably tempted to seek out less showy garden centers, and buy their garden plants at cheaper establishments. This is all very well, but as with most things, cheap can prove to be very dear indeed. While a cheap plant nursery is not necessarily a bad one, it should pass three tests before you consider buying plants from it.
